Following the recent announcement of a 2019 fall tour celebrating The Band‘s historic 1976 farewell concert, The Last Waltz, comes word that a special Nashville show will take place at the end of the trek that will feature an expanded lineup of musicians, including The Band’s Robbie Robertson.
“The Last Waltz Nashville: An All-Star Celebration of The Band’s Historic Farewell Concert” will be held on Saturday, November 23, at Bridgestone Arena. Among the other performers on the bill are Michael McDonald, Darius Rucker, Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, Nathaniel Rateliff and Margo Price.
These artists will joined by all musicians taking part in the aforementioned Last Waltz Tour 2019, including ex-Allman Brothers Band guitarist Warren Haynes, acclaimed producer/bassist Don Was, The Neville Brothers‘ Cyril Neville, country artist Jamey Johnson, The Radiators‘ Dave Malone, longtime Muddy Waters guitarist Bob Margolin, avant-jazz keyboardist John Medeski, and Lukas Nelson.
Tickets for the Nashville concert go on sale to the general public this Saturday, October 12, at 10 a.m. CT at Ticketmaster.com. Citi card members can purchase pre-sale tickets now through the company’s Private Pass program.
Part of the proceeds from the show will go to Farm Aid, which helps support family farms throughout the U.S., and Thistle Farms, a Nashville-based nonprofit dedicated to helping women survivors of prostitution, trafficking and addiction.
The trek kicks off November 5 in Port Chester, New York. The tour is being presented in association with Robertson, his son Sebastian, and concert promoters Blackbird Presents.
In a video promo for the trek, Robbie says, “There has been Last Waltz shows and tours around the world for years, but this is the first and only one that I’ve ever endorsed.”
